Retired Union Oil Company employee Jack Spaulding graduated from Cal Poly in Mechanical Engineering in 1949. At that time there were less then 1,000 students and only men Spaulding said. Spaulding retired in 1986 and has since volunteered on the alumni association for Cal Poly, been on the Mustang Athletic fund board and the Hall of Fame board.

Jack Spaulding stands next to a display put together by Pam Parsons from the College of Science and Mathematics. Found in the Fischer Science building, the display houses items donated by Spaulding such as photos and a cable, sections of the railroad track and a piece of wood from the original wooden Unocal pier. -Photo by Pam Parsons
